◎简 介
因盗窃而蹲了六年牢的鲁迪-邓肯(本-艾弗列克饰)终于获得假释，他现在最想做的一件事就是去找一个叫阿什莉(查莱兹-瑟伦饰)的姑娘，和她开始全新的生活。鲁迪从未与她谋面，只是狱友尼克在狱中与她频繁地书信联系，并且经常滔滔不绝地对鲁迪谈起与她的故事，鲁迪也因此对她渐萌爱意。尼克在不久前的一次监狱骚乱中被害，于是鲁迪决定冒充尼克去探访阿什莉。
鲁迪终于见到了阿什莉，两人的关系也发展得很顺利。鲁迪开始憧憬新的生活，但他却没有想到自己正被卷入一场大阴谋之中。阿什莉疯狂的兄长加布里尔(加利-辛尼斯饰)和他那一帮亡命之徒正计划抢劫一家赌场，而尼克以前曾在那里工作过，于是加布里尔便胁迫自称尼克的鲁迪帮助他们实现这一计划。后悔不迭的鲁迪该怎样摆脱这场阴谋呢？
